Home Economics Archive Research Tradition History (HEARTH) — Cornell University's archive of home economic publications from 1850 to 1950. The archive features PDFs of early nutrition magazines and other health, home economics, and family related topics. This is a great resource for those who want to learn more about the history of nutrition and food.

of 10/26/09, we are assisting in the online publication of 1,940,744 free full-text articles and 6,112,142 total articles. There are 9 sites with free trial periods, and 46 completely free sites. 281 sites have free back issues, and 1186 sites have pay per view!
Information Please — has been providing authoritative answers to all kinds of factual questions since 1938. It is part of Pearson Education, the largest educational publisher in the world and owner of Prentice Hall, Scott Foresman, Addison Wesley Longman, and other distinguished imprints. Pearson also owns the Financial Times and Penguin Putnam publishers.
International Bibliographic Information Dietary Supplements Database (IBIDS) — provides access to bibliographic citations and abstracts from published, international, and scientific literature on dietary supplements; users can choose to search the full IBIDS database, a subset of consumer citations only or peer reviewed citations only.
Internet Public Library — provides users with a reference center in areas of study common to students, where they can ask reference questions that are answered by a reference center staff of trained librarians; “reading rooms” contain bookshelves of online texts, publications and newspapers; catalog of online books and an opportunity to access abstracts of resources in specific categories.

National Library of Medicine — portal to PubMed , PubMed Central, and Medline Plus; the Visible Human Project, featuring complete, anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the normal male and female human bodies; Tox Town, an interactive guide to common toxic chemicals, your health, and the environment; plus many other resources.
Nature.com — offers searchable databases, podcasts, web feeds, blogs and journals with free access to many full text articles and abstracts. Nature.com is the web portal of Nature Publishing Group (NPG), the scientific publishing arm of Macmillan Publishers Ltd.
New York Public Library — excellent research source with many areas to conduct searches, including a research libraries page that has an online catalog of the library's contents; the NYPL Express is the library’s fee-based information and document delivery service; information specialists can supply photocopies of articles or answer research questions.
Online Books — offers more than 35,000 online books searchable by author, subject, title, and Dewey Decimal System call number; includes a directory of sites that have English and foreign language online texts.
PubMed — a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine that includes over 16 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources.
PubMedCentral — the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature.
Rosenthal Center Directory of Databases for Complementary and Alternative Medicines — a compilation of established research resources in the USA, Europe and Asia, designed to facilitate research by both professionals and the public; may be clinical, biomedical, review, meta-analytical or survey research; listings are hyperlinked to existing Web sites when available, and to brief information on the resource, including further details, type of literature covered, whether fee-based access or free, size of the holding, and mode of access.
U.S. Copyright Office — addresses all areas of copyright in the U.S. and internationally.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration — part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, offering information and news on the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation’s food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.
